read for (a role)=(役の)オーディションを受ける/台本を読んで試演する。俳優業界の定番表現。日本人は audition と言うが、台本読みのオーディションは read for the part が自然。

settle down=落ち着け/まあまあ抑えて。興奮した相手をなだめる定番の一言。日本人は calm down と言うが、settle down の方が砕けて自然な場面も多い。
