Brightloom Textiles Opens Second Weaving Mill in Eastvale
EASTVALE - Brightloom Textiles announced on Tuesday that it has opened a second weaving mill in the Eastvale industrial district, roughly doubling the company's production capacity for its recycled-fiber fabrics.
The new facility, which cost $18 million to build, will employ 240 workers once fully staffed. Hiring began last month and is expected to conclude by December.
"Demand for our fabrics has grown faster than we ever projected, and our original mill simply could not keep pace," said Priya Venkataraman, chief executive of Brightloom. "This expansion lets us serve larger clothing brands without compromising the environmental standards that define us."
Industry analysts note that Brightloom's decision runs against a broader trend, as several rival manufacturers have moved production overseas in recent years. Venkataraman said the company remains committed to keeping its operations within the region.

Structural Condition Assessment
Client: Larkspur Heritage Trust
Property: The Old Custance Granary, 4 Wharf Lane
Purpose: To evaluate the building's suitability for conversion into a community arts venue
The granary, built in 1892, was inspected over two days by our survey team. - [1] - Overall, the timber frame is in sound condition, with only localized decay near the north gable where a gutter has long been leaking.
The ground floor can safely bear the loads expected of a public gallery and workshop space. - [2] - However, the upper floor joists were sized for grain storage and would require reinforcement before use as an occupied studio.
The external brickwork is largely original and structurally stable. - [3] - We recommend repointing the south wall within the next two years to prevent water ingress.
We estimate that the essential structural works could be completed within four months. - [4] - A detailed cost breakdown will follow in a separate document once the Trust confirms the intended occupancy limits.

Cedarline Bikeshare Expands to the Waterfront District
Cedarline Bikeshare, the docked bicycle rental network founded in Millgrove eight years ago, announced this week that it has added twelve new stations across the Waterfront District. The expansion brings the total network to eighty-four stations.
Riders unlock bicycles using the Cedarline mobile app or a physical membership card. The company offers three plans: a Single Ride at $3.25 for thirty minutes, a Day Pass at $11.00 for unlimited thirty-minute trips within twenty-four hours, and an Annual Membership at $96.00 that includes the first forty-five minutes of every trip at no extra charge.
"Our data showed that Waterfront residents were walking up to fifteen minutes just to reach the nearest station," said operations director Ms. Lena Varga. "These new docks close that gap." Varga added that every new station includes at least four electric-assist bicycles, which had previously been available only in the downtown core.

Customer Review — posted by Tomas Reindl
Rating: 4 out of 5
I live near the Waterfront and used to skip Cedarline entirely because the closest dock was a long walk from my building. Ever since the new stations went in, there is one just two minutes from my door, so I finally signed up for the plan that covers a full year.
The best surprise has been the electric-assist bikes. My commute includes a steep hill by the ferry terminal, and before, I would arrive at work out of breath. Now the ride is genuinely pleasant. My only complaint is that on weekday mornings the electric bikes at my local dock are often all taken by 8:15 A.M., so I sometimes have to settle for a standard bicycle.
Still, for the price, this is the best transit decision I have made all year.
